Yatri Nivas

Stayed in this hotel for weekend as this was recommended by friend. Decent hotel with large rooms. Washroom, bed and corridor was neat and clean. Service as can be expected from the state run dept was average. Had breakfast which was good. Price commensurate with the facility provided. Hote staff were polite & offered suggestion on tourist attraction. They also arranged for a very good guide for Chitradurga Fort. Overall nice property, but services has to improve

I give the Yatri Nivas 5 stars not because of luxury-- it is not a luxury hotel by any means. But rather, because it is simply and correctly run, and the staff take that extra step to be helpful and polite. The room was spacious and clean, everything in order. The meals (breakfast and dinner) were quite delicious and properly served. |At this KSTDC hotel the director and staff made me feel welcome and special in the manner of the great hoteliers of the past. |Also, the location at the edge of town right by the incredibly beautiful Fort makes this ideal for tourism and a good night's sleep far from the crowds.

I booked this hotel through Yatra website with advance payments and when I reached the hotel it was closed. Huge disappointment from both the hotel and the website as it was quite tough to find another solution in the night.||I am very shocked that the hotel would still be approving online bookings and taking money when they are closed. Yatra processed for the refund fast but still a pain during our holidays...||Be warned!

Room was big enough.It was clean & neat. Spacious Garden / lawn around the hotel. ||Very near to the fort - Just walk able distance.||No food facility was available.||But service was not good. No intercom facility.

this hoel was too good to stay.the outer appearance to inner everything was just exceptional.rooms were so big,neat and clean and well maintained.reception was just beyond thinking.in morning they provided breakfast that was so delicious.

Am surprised by the couple of reviews here.||I was, in fact, pleasantly surprised by the hotel on 2 counts - service and food - usually suspect at state run properties.||The location is fabulous if one intends to visit the Chitradurg fort as it is just yonder!||The rooms were plush albeit a trifle smaller than what one would expect in a KSTDC property, especially at the rate that it goes at in a small town.

Have been in this KSTDC Yatri Nivas in Chitradurga because we already spent 2 nights in the same chain in Kamalapur (recommend it) and this is our experience: ||||my husband and me have been willing to spend 1800 Rupees per night for a lovely hotel with a beautiful room and booked this hotel online for Christmas. In internet everything sounds and looks good. BUT: they have 4 nice rooms, balcony with open space to the Chitradurga Fort, silent, birds are singing in the trees, ...||and they have 4 rooms without view at all to the strongly frequented bus-group-kitchen and restaurant,||smell and noise from morning to evening. ||||It is what it is, a rural beer parlor, absolely couple-unfriendly, serving lots of beer and cold food (chapati).||It needed 90 minutes to get a room.||The manager was not brave enough to show his face when we complained about the room.||||We travelled a lot in India in the past 25 years and saw a lot of hotel rooms, but this was one of the really bad experiences for much to much money. The room is not worth a quarter of the price, not to mention the holes in the sheets, the fragmented wallpaper faking style, the distance from a very small flatscreen to a far away bed, no toiletpaper, we can handle with all this. But not with this kind of unwillingness - its not a fine base when you have already paid. ||||Ah ja, and after midnight we could clearly hear the beerdrinkers vomiting in the room next to us. Thin walls.||The watchman is a begger and not a helpful person, shouting "paisa" all the time. ||||We will stop here - try your luck or don't come to this place.

It is not a posh place; If I'd go back, it would be for the service. Such a surprise and pleasure for a government run place. The people running the place were attentive and took good care of the place / people.
