The Ashoka Inn, Shimla

The main attraction for selecting the hotel was it's closeness to Mall Road. However, the road to the property was a nightmare. It's a single road and it was a challenge to locate and reach the place. Moreover, from the parking, it's another 150-200 meters to walk down with luggage ( fortunately someone helped us from the hotel). The staff was good, helpful and supporting. The room was compact, but overall cleanliness, maintenance (wash room) should be improved. Food quality was good and staff was really good. Overall a budget hotel with good food.

Me and my wife stayed in this hotel for 3 days. The only bad thing is location of this hotel. If you can walk miles , you can book this hotel for sure. Very hard to park car here and hard to bring your car to hotel as well. Even if you bring your car nearby you still have to walk to get to the hotel. Food was good and room was good too. Only bad thing is location.

Location is good. View from the hotel is awesome. Service and food is also good. But the rooms are really pathetic to say least, not clean at all, insects were there too.

The hotel is an old property but well positioned for view. "Technically" it is on mall road but municipality doesn't allow private cars on mall road so they send their hotel car to transport tourists and luggage from Jakku ropeway walking point. Any visit to mall has to be on foot or taxi to lift, which is troublesome for old or incapacitated people. But that's not hotel's fault. Service and hospitality nice enough.

Good Experience, very supportive staff and pleasant services.. Nice staff behavior..Mr. Surender Sharma/Yogesh Ji along with all service staff.. Good Food.. walkin to mall road, churh, Ridge, lakkar bazar.. my kid are enjoying very much..

Stayed at: 9th Jan 2025(1 night) Persons: 4 Room: 303 & 304 Charges: 2500/- Location: Not so far from church & mall road but you need to walk at a high inclination to reach the hotel. So it's a bit tough although you can take coolie. Condition: Deluxe room 304 was small, not so clean with no views from balcony. Washroom was also not very properly clean. Although 303 was spacious. The owner was a good person.

I along with my wife and 2.5 years old daughter stayed at Ashoka inn on 3rd and 4th of April, 2025. Pros : 1. Very near to Mall road, literally walking distance. The views from the balcony are serene. You would just love sipping tea over there. 2. Food was awesome. Service was great. The guy named Neeraj along with his colleagues did very well to make ourselves indulge in tasty food. Neeraj is a well mannered guy. He loves the children and our daughter became very fond of Neeraj and she still remembers her even after a week. 3. The management and reception staff are quick to respond. They try their best to solve any issues. Cons : 1. The Rooms are old but I found them comfortable enough. They don't provide heaters so you need to manage accordingly. 2.Reaching the hotel is a bit difficult, the hotel staff will guide you. You have to park your cab around 700m-800m away on the hills. From there, their altos will drop you to some 50-60 m away from the hotels, from there, their staff will drop your luggage at the hotel. You need to walk a bit and need to climb some 40-50 steps to reach the hotel area. Overall if you ignore the cons it's a value buy at a very good location.

The hotel is located near the Church and the Ridge Shimla. The staff is very polite and supportive nature. I have tried food, which was also fresh and delicious. The scenic view from its balcony was awesome and mesmerizing. Specially thanks for warm bed, which was really needed in chilled winter night at a temperature around 3degc.
