Da Shack

While passing through Mandi late at night, we had to find a place to stay. After an hour of searching, we came across this amazing property, and it truly saved us. The hospitality was outstanding, and the food was exceptional--hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The place truly felt like 'Da Shack'--perfect, cozy, and welcoming. Everything about our stay was perfect, making it one of the best experiences we've had. Highly recommended.

The room was unbearably cold, even colder than being outdoors. Despite the listing stating that heating was included, they tried to charge extra for it. The portable heater provided was inadequate and stopped working on the second night, leaving me to endure temperatures as low as 5degC. The room wasn't just uncomfortable--it was outright dangerous. The electrical connections for both the ventilator and boiler were placed just 25 cm from the showerhead, leaving them exposed to water. Thankfully, I noticed this and turned everything off before showering. As a result, there was insufficient hot water, forcing me to choose between freezing or risking electrocution. To make matters worse, the entire building was constructed with asbestos. I cannot fathom how such a structure could be permitted to operate as a hotel, and I'm genuinely surprised no one has suffered serious harm there. The staff were equally problematic, seemingly intent on overcharging guests. The listing claimed card payments were accepted, but this was not true. When I returned with cash, they conveniently had no change and tried to pressure me into buying food instead. Frankly, I wouldn't give them a single rupee beyond what I had already paid, which was exorbitant for what was offered. Had I booked a longer stay, I would have left immediately. My recommendation? Demolish the place.

Food was the best part, Couldn't get enough of it. Had dishes ordered, packed and filled in the tummy knowing we'll not be having such good flavors for next how many months. Rooms were so comfy and Parking is safe. Great Experience, Staff and Reception. Wishing all the best and prosperity to the place!! Made my Stay an Experience worth paying for.

Extremely poor service. We stated at room 301. No handwash. We were locked at night. Couldn't get extra water at night. They literally locked the upper door. Nobody picked call. I stayed on 24th Dec 2024. * Poor bathtub quality * 4 person stayed only 2 towels given. * Shower and Tap switch was not working. * Hot water didn't come at night * In name of complementary breakfast. We were 4 people and they said we can give only one paratha and you have to share. Max 300 rupees for all 4 people breakfast. Poor food service. Imp- In room no. 301 if you have not put the upper latch, door can open automatically. Owners if reading please correct it.

Stay is not worth the price they take. First they called to cancel from Booking.com and asked to pay advance which I did and added complimentary breakfast. The room was small and taps were not working. Basic facilities like a wardrobe are not there. No handwash, toiletries provided. They locked the property from inside at night and we couldn't go out to get water. The swimming pool is a public pool and not exclusively property of hotel. During breakfast they said you can order for Rs300 for 4 people. I won't recommend this at all. Attached photo is from where we have to go to our room

Very good professional customer service. Location is very pleasant. Clean room and very good food.Transportation support to IIT Mandi was very good and local sightseeing support from Ms Palak was also genuine. Thank you and I strongly recommend anyone wanting to stay in Mandi to stay at Da Shak.

This hotel is definitely worth a visit! Mr. Thakur made the stay so pleasant with his kindness and willingness to help. The rooms were spotless and the cleaning staff deserves a shout-out. Honestly, the food alone is worth the trip, absolutely delicious. And those views from balcony is breathtaking!

Da shack is an okay hotel with swimming pool near Beas River but at the opposite side of the main market. As per our stay, the rooms were not clean. There was no handwash and basic room facilities like hot water. We had booked a room with breakfast option and had to basically fight for the breakfast as the person named Palak who had booked was not present in the morning. Also we were basically locked in 301 room because the staff went away with keys somewhere and we couldn't go anywhere during night. The door locks don't work. Won't recommend taking family members here. I would not recommend a stay at this hotel, I guess all the reviews are fake here.
