Stayed perhaps in 2019. Don't remember exact date but fondly remember the memories. It is located on the way to Chansal leak, however not very near. Very few decent accomodations in the area mind you. It is a home stay so if you don't expect a lot you would be happy. If you expect much, may be disappointed. Overall neither mind blowing nor poor. Food really takes a lot of time but accomodation, beauty of surrounding area and overall calmness are good.

Stayed one night Jan 2022. Cons: The lady who picks up the phone is not based at the venue, so information delay happens. It's not a hotel but a homestay, so manage your expectations. No parking at venue. You have to park on the road and then walk about 100 metres on a narrow trail. Help may or may not be available for your bags, check in advance. Shoes have to be removed before entering rooms. Choice of food is limited obviously, depending on what's available at the home. Pros: The only halfway decent place to stay in a beautiful area.

MOST AWESOME place to stay near ( an hour's drive) CHANSHAL PASS Spacious clean rooms & big terrace affording 360 degree views of mesmerising mountains including some snow covered peaks. Hosts are warm & responsive too. A foodie might b a li'l disappointed with the food though

Had an amazing time and great experience. Perfect location, 360 degrees mountain view. The place is around 1-hour ride from Rohru and half an hour from amazing Chanchal Peak. ||Room ambiance was awesome with great views. All the basic amenities were available with home cooked food- totally organic and healthy. Best place for Yoga, hiking, and camping. Best Experience Ever.

While going around villages in Himachal, during my month long escapade, I happened to come across this property through airbnb and booked them after talking the owner (a nice helpful lady who directed me to her even better father).||||The place is neatly tucked away in the Shiladesh village of Larot about 5 hours (with 0.5 hour break) from Shimla. ||||Some pros:||1. If you really want to experience the beauty of apple orchards, this is the place to be in.||2. Untouched village with fresh cows milk, delicious home-made organic food.||3. Wooden property with nice clean rooms and attached bathrooms.||4. Nice, warm, welcoming family to take care of you.||5. Beautiful views of sunset and sunrise (with mountains all around)||||Some Cons:||1. Parking needs to be done on the main road (I thought was unsafe, but seems like a usual thing in villages)- My car was ok.||2. Roads are not fully of highway standard, but manageable (its government to blame and roads usually get worse as you go further in to the village).||||Conclusion:||Worth a life of an experience!!||Must visit place in India!

Woods hostel is located about 5 hours from Shimla, about 60-90 minutes from Rohru. It is surrounded by beautiful Himalayan ranges in all the four directions. This makes it very scenic. The hostel is managed very professionally and yet everyone is very friendly and helpful. You will feel like home here. Food here is very delicious and 100% organic. Rooms are spacious and very clean. There is a huge open space on ground floor, where you can sit, read a book or relax right in front of beautiful Himalayan ranges. What else you would need after this. There are beautiful treks around the hostel. Chanshal peak (highest peak in Shimla district) is only 18 kms from here. I would highly recommend Woods Hostel to anyone looking for a getaway in nature. ||p.s. Do book in advance because rooms can get filled very fast specially during weekends and peak season. Cheers.

First and foremost, thanks to our travel co-ordinator for referring us to such a nice place which in my opinion has the most mesmerising views that one can just dream off. ||||We were 3 families who visited this property in the first week of May 2018. The property is located at about 150-200 meterrs from the main road. Ideally after a tiring journey, I would have expected some assistance with the luggage and also some snacks on arrival. Neither were we helped with the luggage nor were we served any snacks. Just plain tea and biscuits. ||||We were accommodated in 4 rooms on the ground floor. The most basic facilities that one would like to have even in a homestay are a clean room, a clean bathroom with a provision for hot water round the clock. Being a very cold place a heater in each room would also be desired. Unfortunately neither the rooms were clean (they were dusty), the linens/towels were stained, the bathrooms were devoid of hot water (we had to depend on the owner to provide us for a bucket of hot water each time someone decided to bathe), the rooms were chilly with insufficient blankets to kill the cold, the room had a bunch of insects free to roam around at their will and last but not the least the plumbing in the washrooms were all leaky.||||Since we had made the entire payment in advance we decided to adjust. ||1. We had to follow up multiple times with the owner to help us with hot water. It reminded me of the scene from the move Kahani where Vidya Balan got a different version of what running hot water really meant. It was the same here, but unfortunately the *running* here was missing. A minimum wait from the request to delivery was 20-25 minutes. ||2. Sufficient blankets were not provided to us after multiple requests. It was only after an escalated followup that our needs of killing the cold were adhered to.||3. We did request our host to help us with a bon fire and he did oblige on the first day but with a blatant taunt that in case we need to have a bonfire we should ideally collect the wood by ourselves. We never bothered to ask him for the second time||4. The food that we agreed on was a 3 course vegetarian meal that included dal and rice. Kadi chawal is one of the specialities of the Himachal cuisine and one day we asked the host to replace the regular dal chawal with kadi chawal. To our surprise we were just served Kadi chawal that afternoon giving a skip to the remaining 2 courses. Nevertheless, we were adjusting enough to let that go.||5. The property on one side has a concrete platform opening directly into the valley. So, we had to caution the kids from venturing into that area. Ideally a railing on that side would have helped||6. Not having any assistance with the luggage during our checkin we did expect that the host would help us during checkout. After we trekked with all our baggage from the resort to the vehicle, the owner asks if we need any assistance with the baggage. I just felt like.. you know what I mean.... ||7. During our stay there was a heavy down pour that resulted in a power cut. That evening we were served dinner in the dining room. Imagine having dinner with mobile torch lights. It was only after we asked for some emergency lighting it was provided. Ideally the host could have been proactive in providing such basic comfort facilities. ||||There were some positives that I must mention||1. Excellent views from the property||2. The food provided was extremely tasty. Not to forget the milk and home made butter.||3. The food provided at Chashal peak was worth mentioning. It was simply excellent.||4. "Johny" the owners pet dog who really is a pal with the guests. It would be with you everywhere during your stay||||Overall, I think if the property can be worked upon and the owners can really understand what hospitality means, this place of stay can be excellent. For the amount we paid, it is absolutely not a value for money... ||||My job is to provide feedback, rest it is for the owners to decide if they would like to act on it or just ignore ....
