Since my first stay in 2007, an occasional visitor to Bhavnagar, experiencing a Royal ambience, very courteous staff, tasteful menu and good reception overall. Rooms are spacious, could have been provided with dental kit and a comb. Rooms are comfortable and clean.

Stayed at the cottage on 23rd to 25th March 2025. Very courteous staff and best facility in terms of meals, hot water, drapery, AC and room service. Spent a wonderful time roaming on the lawns of the premises with various kinds of blooming flowers around. Thanks.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 days while on a trip to the revered Nishkalank Mahadev temple in Bhavnagar. I had a wonderful experience overall and would definitely recommend this hotel to future travelers. Highlights: 1. Beautiful architecture. The hotel had been an actual palace of the royal family of Bhavnagar and boasts colonial era architecture, with massive rooms, spacious verandas, porchs and sit out spaces with swings. 2. Preservation of heritage. The hotel management has preserved old artifacts, cutlery, paintings and photographs of the royal family from the time they lived there. These are on display throughout the hotel in the walk-ways and gallery areas. There are hundreds of paintings of Indian birds from the Gujarat region that had been done by a famous artist, on display in the gallery. 3. Peaceful and quiet. Although it is situated just off the main road, the hotel has a huge lawn in front of it, which separates it from spacially from the traffic and noise of daily movement. 4. Decent food at the in-house restaurants. They have multiple in house restaurants with both veg and non-veg menus. Swimming pool and other basic amenities were available. There were a few instances where service could have been better: 1. After ordering a lunch in, we requested the room service to collect the tray, but we saw our used cutlery outside our room a day later, because no one had come to clear it :') 2. When requesting help at the reception with getting change for 500 rupees for an urgent payment, I had to follow up multiple times and was not met with a friendly approach. Despite a few areas of improvement in service, it was a positive experience overall, to have stayed that Nilambag Palace hotel, and the staff appeared to have put their heart into their work. It is always good to see an attempt to preserve our culture and heritage, and in fact, the current Maharaja of Bhavnagar made a visit to the hotel, as I was informed that it is being managed by the royal family even today!

This place is the official residence of the erstwhile royal family. The family still resides in part of the palace grounds and some of the areas have been converted to a hotel. Various types of rooms available as per your requirement. i stayed at the cottage rooms, which is a small structure behind the main building. Rooms are big and airy and well appointed with basic amenities. Sleep quality is average as personally i felt the mattress a little to soft. but i was staying only for a night, so did not raise an issue about it. Need to appreciate the fact that they have tried to preserve the heritage and most of the structure, including the rooms are well maintained. Did not try any meals except breakfast, which was okay. Check in and check out process was quick. Location is right in the middle of the town and plenty of parking space available. Definitely recommended for a visit.

Great palace in Bhavnagar but needs better upkeep and rooms certainly need huge renovation. We stayed in heritage room. Rooms are very big, but furnishings need some maintenance and modernisation. bathrooms are big too, bathrooms were clean but not sanitary fittings are in dire condition, tiles are broken and overall does not feel great.|Food is less than mediocre, breakfast was cold and is not elaborate at all. |Staff is okay, courteous but certainly needs proper hospitality training.|Overall, property and experience does not match with other similar priced heritage properties.
