We enjoyed our first stay at Talvern in 2014 so much that we were determined to stay there again. So this year when we returned to Brittany we were really pleased that there was a room available for 5 nights. We had "La Saline" room which is a very nicely decorated lovely big room with views over both sides of the garden. It also has a very nice en suite with a new power shower. Christine and Patrick are really great hosts, I find the atmosphere at Talvern is very relaxing and they both work hard to ensure their guests have an enjoyable stay. We ate there every evening by choice because Patrick is an excellent chef. We had various dishes including beautiful fresh fish, a lovely duck dish and desserts all incorporating fruit and vegetables from their garden. The meals with all guests sharing one long table are good fun as there is always a mix of different nationalities and its so nice to meet new people. We also like the breakfasts which include locally baked bread, home made yogurts and fromage frais, lovely jams and cakes both made by Christine and freshly pressed orange juice. A great place to stay.

Talvern is such a nice place that this time we stayed for 6 nights. We liked having the Salted Room in 2017 and asked for it again on this trip. It has views both over the fields at the front of the house and over the wonderful back garden that is bordered by woods. Its a very quiet spot out in the country, which makes for peaceful sleeping, but it's close to the village of Landevant and towns like Auray. Patrick and Christine are very good at making their guests feel at home and the atmosphere there is very relaxing and friendly. We enjoy the communal dinners around one long table and have met some great people there from many different countries. Patricks' superb cooking is another excellent reason to stay there and Christines' home made jams are a great addition to the breakfast table. We will be back.

We really enjoyed our stay in June. The room (Saffron) was very pleasant, clean and quiet. It was wonderfully cool in the hot weather. The en suite shower room was very smart. There was a good selection of breads and jams (some of the latter were very unusual!), yoghurt and cake at breakfast. We particularly appreciated the fact that meals were available every day except Sunday and enjoyed trying all the fish. As Patrick is a chef it was all beautifully cooked and presented. We had a good time chatting to the other guests at the shared meal table and appreciated the fact that Christine and Patrick joined us at the end of the meal.They approach running a bed and breakfast in a very professional way and do their best to ensure that everyone enjoys themselves. We would not hesitate to stay there again. .

We (Dutch-Icelandic couple) stayed for two nights, in a simply splendid room. Every detail was interesting, and everything was very comfortable. Christine and Patrick were wonderful hosts, it was such fun to have breakfast, and dinner, together with them and the other guests, like a family dinner! Breakfast was superb, with many confitures, fresh bread, basically anything one could wish. Dinner was very special, something I will remember for a long time. Many ingredients from their own garden, surprising mains, you could tell Patrick has been a chef. If we have the chance, we will certainly return!

Expect a genuinely warm welcome from Patrick and Christine in their lovingly restored farmhouse. The rooms are comfortable and tastefully furnished and along with the bathrooms, are spotlessly clean.||Patrick is a very knowledgable and talented chef who prepares a delicious evening meal - much of the produce from their own organically cultivated garden and orchard. ||The large dining table around which everyone sits makes for a convivial evening. Any language difficulties are overcome by Christine's fluent English.||Artisanal sourdough bread is provided for breakfast accompanied by at least half a dozen homemade jams.||We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay and the next time we visit Brittany would be inclined to make a detour to stay at Talvern.

Talvern is a great place for a quiet holiday. The location is secluded but only 5 minutes drive from the local shops, 10 mins from the nearest town and 2 mins from the coast. The rooms were very comfortable and the large garden a real pleasure, with room to walk, or relax, and a Kitchen garden worthy of the National Trust, from which much of the fruit and vegetables for the daily meals comes. Christine's breakfast preserves are the stuff of legends, and Patrick cooks a fantastic range of fish if you take the evening meals.|Landevant is also quite close to a number of beautiful beaches on the Brittany coast.|Thank you Christine and Patrick for a lovely holiday.

I never wanted to leave. This huge stone house has been renovated to include bnb bedrooms and a downstairs kitchen and dining room. The cottage is 5 mins drive from the nearest small village hidden in quiet blissful countryside dense with forest and rambling stone cottages. The accommodation is clean, warm and friendly (without being fancy or pretentious) with the added bonus of a huge garden to relax in. The owners are a delight. They regularly host dinner for guests at a big shared dining table for EU27 for a three course meal and wine. Fabulous value and I'd suggest doing this most nights you are there. The host is a professionally trained chef who worked in Paris and Tokyo. Most of the food is from their organic garden! Rustic delicious local food. |Don't expect great wifi here. It's the only very minor point in a sea of wonderful comments to make about this place.

Christine and Patrick are excellent hosts, the rooms are comfortable and well appointed, all in a lovely country situation. Make sure that you book the table d'hote and enjoy the conviviality and great food prepared by Patrick. We will certainly go back if in Brittany again.
