The Gupta Guest House

The only good thing going about this homestay is the location. Walking distance from most of the temples and other popular destinations. But you have to stay somewhere! When we arrived at the homestay, the members of the Gupta family there were not aware of our reservation. The two members we meet, one Mrs. Gupta and the other could be the son are not very friendly people. Seems like Mr. Gupta, to whom we had spoken on phone, was not present and had not conveyed anything to the members present. Moment you enter the homestay its very unkempt, dirty with things lying everywhere. We were allotted a room on the first floor with a balcony. Great isn't it! But no! What's it? Someone's laundry on the clothesline right in front of your door, that too a glass door! What do you do? When we request Mrs. Gupta to ask the guest to remove the clothesline from the balcony she snaps at us and says to mind our own business. Inside the room there's one light bulb. The bathroom is a total disaster. There's no outgoing pipe from the washbasin. It empties itself on the bathroom itself. So whatever goes out comes back at your feet literally. The general cleanliness in the room is also poor. No comode cover! All in all if you are totally homeless in Bodhgaya then you can opt for this homestay.

The location is perfect as all the major attractions are at walkable distance. They have an in house restaurant serving multi cuisine food. The rooms are decent and the price is value for money. The owner is really kind and the staff have been very helpful.

Everything about this guest house was fantastic. Starting from the room to food and their service. If anyone wants to visit Bodhgaya and they are looking for a place to stay then this is the perfect place for it.

When we arrived in Bodhgaya, we were lucky to find such a clean and affordable place to stay. You can walk to Mahabodhi temple, the market, and food shops. However, you may not need to eat elsewhere because you have Chef Parmod to cook for you at home. He can cook many dishes, always understands our wishes, and adjusts to suit our tastes. Another note is that Hari Om Cafe belongs to Gupta Guest House. As Hari Om was already reviewed because many people knew, I wrote a review for Gupta.
