Grand Istana Rama Hotel Kuta - Bali

I stayed at Grand Istana Rama for 3 nights, conveniently located just across from Kuta Beach. Overall, my stay was excellent. From the start, the airport pickup was smooth--they patiently waited for my delayed arrival and ensured I was safe, even with a late check-in past midnight. Customer service was outstanding--staff were approachable, fluent in English, and quick to respond to any concerns or requests. The room was spacious for its price, clean, and well-maintained. If you enjoy a natural, relaxing ambiance, this place is perfect. There are several dining options and even a spa within the property, so you don't need to go far for food or relaxation. And of course, the best part is being just steps away from Kuta Beach. I'll definitely be coming back!

Room has a good bed , spacious , air con , bit of an odd arrangement with the hand washing facilities separate from the washroom. Breakfast and Coffee are good , restaurant really loud in the evenings, beautiful gardens and friendly people. Had a problem with our fridge they replaced it the same day . Right by the Beach which would be great for families and surfers, but unfortunately the road is really busy and noisy ,close to a huge shopping Mall . Pool is nice , towels are provided but service at the pool bar could be improved. But would recommend the hotel .

This was my second visit to this fine hotel. All staff were lovely, and the ambience very calming and relaxing with the beautiful gardens.|I wish to particularly praise my 'houseboy' who cleaned my room most days.|PURNAMA was diligent, respectful, excellent in his work, kind, with a good sense of humour. He was a delight and nothing was too much trouble for him.|My room was large with pleasant outdoor seating. The pool is lovely, but be careful walking as this is very slippery poolside. The restaurant provides good cuisine, especially with the buffet.|I highly recommend this hotel.

However, some furnishings felt slightly dated and could use an upgrade. * Service: The staff was generally polite and welcoming Checkout Experience: One disappointing aspect was the checkout process. Before allowing guests to leave, the staff insists on checking the room, which feels unnecessary and gives an unwelcoming impression. A smoother, trust-based process would enhance the guest experience. * Location: The beachfront location is fantastic, making it easy to explore Kuta and enjoy the ocean views. Definitely one of the best aspects of the hotel! Overall, it's a decent stay for the price, but with improvements in service efficiency and room upgrades, it could be an excellent

From the moment we stepped into The Grand Istana Rama, we were treated to an experience that was nothing short of exceptional. The front desk staff greeted us warmly and efficiently handled our check-in, making us feel welcomed right from the start.The room was a felt like it's situated in a lovely garden, stunning housekeeping staff, providing immaculate cleanliness. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud, and the amenities provided were thoughtful and enhanced our stay.Dining at the hotel was a pleasure with a variety of delicious options. The breakfast buffet had a wide range of choices, all fresh and appetizing. The restaurant staff was attentive and courteous, always on hand to ensure our meal was perfect. And the Bar staff were always just a glance away from cocktails to iced coffees; it's a testament to customer service!What truly set The Grand Istana Rama apart was the attention to detail and the genuine care displayed by all staff members. Everyone went above and beyond to make sure our stay was memorable. The reception was particularly helpful, recommending fantastic local spots and ready to assist whenever we needed it.Overall, our stay at The Grand Istana Rama was outstanding. After multiple trips to the spa because we just couldn't get enough, we left feeling refreshed and pampered, and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area. My fourth stay at Grand Istana Rama was fantastic as always. I was able to check in 2 hours early which was a great start. The room was perfect, plenty of room, seating area outside, 2 minute walk to Beachwalk Shopping Centre, Kuta beach over the road. The staff are fantastic, from the Bar Resto 69, to those working around the hotel grounds and cleaning rooms, and reception, everyone greets you with a hello and a smile. Special mention to my favourite, Maniez, who has been on reception at my last 3 stays. Maniez had a big smile and greeting for me when I saw her and was always ready to help with anything I needed. The hotel is in a super convenient spot, close to everything. The food is excellent, and the rooms are spacious. The staff is very friendly and helpful. However, the washroom is outdated and needs urgent renovation. Also, the AC doesn't work properly, making it uncomfortable at night. Other than that, no complaints!

The resort is well maintained with beautiful gardens and a traditional Balinese atmosphere. The location is excellent, right across from Kuta Beach and next to Beachwalk shopping center, making it convenient for families and tourists. However, the rooms and wooden fixtures are noticeably old and in need of an update. Doors and other wooden items feel flimsy and not very secure, which can be concerning when traveling with family and children. Facilities & Amenities The hotel offers a large outdoor pool, a restaurant with live music, and free cultural activities. Rooms are spacious and clean, but the bathrooms and some amenities show signs of age, such as warped doors and occasional plumbing issues. There is no elevator, but the buildings are only two stories high. Staff are generally helpful with luggage. Dining & Policies The BBQ buffet is unlimited, but water is not included-you must purchase bottled water, which is expensive (about 25% the price of the buffet). This feels like an overrated policy and can be frustrating for guests. Check-In Experience At check-in, a deposit of IDR 1 million (approx. USD 63) is required. If you prefer to pay in USD, the staff may be reluctant but can accommodate after some discussion. They also offer to charge your credit card and reverse it later, but the process could be more flexible and customer-friendly. Overall Impression The location and gardens are a highlight, but the outdated wooden fixtures and strict policies detract from the experience. The property feels safe overall, but the old doors may make some guests feel uneasy. The deposit and water policies are not very guest-oriented, and the hotel could improve by updating its facilities and making its policies more flexible. If you value location and gardens, this hotel is a good choice, but be prepared for older facilities and some frustrating policies.
