Basic decent rooms with hot water and good food near to Dibru Saikhowa/ Maguri beel. Access to a watchtower to view and photograph water birds. Lots of species of birds in nearby habitats. Contact Guide Jiban Dutta for booking.
Beautiful place for bird lovers
Visited today for Day outing. Had a wonderful experience watching the Migratory Birds of Maguribeel. Jibon da owner of the resort took special care of our Maguribeel tour enlightening the names of birds and their native places. The food was good. Amazing Hospitality. Thank you Jibon da for your kindness.
All the rooms are almost like this. Not matching with their website photos. But one should not expect high end 3 star or 4 star hotel there. Room service is very good. Room price is including all food except lunch. I booked at 1500 on feb 2019. You will get boats for birds photography at 850 rs each time for 1-2 people. Timing not fixed for this. Around 3 hours they provide. Guide charge extra.
Kohuwa Eco Camp by the Maguri Beel at Tinsukia town of Assam, felt right within the lap of mother nature. Maguri Beel being a wetland attracts a lot of migratory birds for which it's famous amongst bird photographer and bird watchers. Being located just outside the Dibru-Saikhowa National Park and Biosphere Reserve it's a gateway to the famous National Park. Well, I can profoundly insist you that, not only bird lovers or bird watchers but if you are a nature lover, you just can't go wrong with this place.||||The Eco Camp is truely an eco-camp in nature. The basic wooden eco-cottages amidst the nature and rich aquatic life became love at first sight for us. The property is huge and very well maintained. The rooms and washrooms are spacious and clean. Being an eco-camp it can give a challenge to most profound hotels anyday in terms of service. The main reason behind this is the owner Palash Da. A very soft-spoken, friendly, warm and welcoming person. He being an avid bird-watcher himself, will be your friend and guide throughout your stay for spotting some rare species at the wetland and dryland across Maguri Beel. He goes beyond the specific schedule and out of the box to please the guests.||||The food here deserves a mention and 5* ratings. It's simply delicious and finger-licking.
Lovely location, at the edge of the Bheel filled with associated birdlife. We could see/hear species like Black-faced Bunting, Chestnut Munia, Ruddy Breasted Crake, Brown Cheeked Rail, Rosy Pipit, Oriental and Collared Scops Owl, Asian Openbill etc in the vicinity of the resort itself. We also saw of number of Ducks, Terai grassland specialities, harriers, falcons and various waders in our forays into the grasslands (by foot)/bheel (by boat). The owners (Palash and Jeevan), both locals, are experienced (and excellent bird guides) and lead not just here, but also in the nearby Dihing Patkai. ||||The resort is constructed local style, rooms on stilts, a central dining area and plenty of open grassy space to sit and enjoy the surroundings. The rooms (with electricity) and bathroom are simple, but functional (with electricity, running water, wc) and hot water in buckets on demand. The food was local style, elaborate (number of dishes - but we were in a large group), and generally tasty. Do request for the local style, spicy chutneys ... mouth (and eye) watering stuff! ||||On the whole a great example of sustainable tourism, where the locals benefit from natural history travel, while keeping environmental footprint from the accommodation to a minimum.||||Wish them all the best!
Wonderful place. I have visited this place once . Just love this place, what a lovely place for bird watchers. The guides have excellent knowledge of birds and wildlife. A must visit for every birdwatcher. The boat ride yielded lot more bird sighting. The nature walk on the river bank is also awesome
