I know it's long but I'd appreciate it, if you guys can go through as this review will save you a lot of time, money and stress. So here's what happened, my husband and I had checked into this place on 12th Sept 2024. ||||The moment we stepped into the almost dilapidated building in the name of 'Heritage', we were welcomed by a deadly elevator that barely fits a person and startled us with an awful thud. As we made our way into the room through the corridor, we sighed an air of relief seeing the beautiful veranda that gave a heritage vibe indeed. To our disappointment, when we were escorted into our room by the security, we were welcomed by a big cockroach. ||The room was quite shabby, with layers of dust on the floor and the furnitures, as if they hadn't been cleaned for weeks while the bed sheets looked old and dull. We still tried to be optimistic about the rest of the stay and the trip. ||||Since we couldn't spot any CCTV cameras anywhere, the next morning we double-locked the room and stepped out for some sightseeing. On our way out, a housekeeping staff approached me asking whether the room needs cleaning and I strictly denied as I was pretty skeptical of letting anyone enter in a place that has no surveillance.||We returned that evening around 19:30, to discover the following: ||1) the room was single locked unlike how we left it||2) the curtain was stuck between the door and the frame like someone had hurriedly locked the door.||3)My husband's backpack wasn't at it's formed place||4) 10,000 rupees missing from the envelope that had a bigger bunch of cash.||||On reporting this to the owners, they acted in a very nonchalant manner, and resorted to the fact that this never happened in the past. We were bound to report it to the police next day, as no actions were taken by the owners who instead kept quiet while having a gala time in their Singapore trip. The police came over and interrogated all the staff but everything was Of course in vain since there is no surveillance to prove a thing. We were pretty sure that it's one of the staff that did it, but we couldn't do much as these guys are usually paid like peanuts. 10k Indian rupees isn't a dramatic amount that we were dying to retrieve, but it was the appalling and hopeless feeling of being cheated on a trip that we were really looking forward to in a long time.|||| We decided to check out immediately.||Another sketchy fact that I discovered about the bed and breakfast: We were informed by the staff that there were more guests but turned out we were the only guests. All the other rooms were under renovation. They even chose to lie to the police about the occupancies. This place is a scam in the name of Heritage so please avoid it at all costs to save yourselves from any disappointment.

Excellent location with many dining options nearby at crawling distances. Great rooms with old world charm. Staff super friendly and helpful. The verandah was a great place to sit and read, chat. Part of an art gallery, really got residency vibes. Just need to ensure you get the right directions to get in if you are getting there first time and especially at night.

Without a doubt this place should be your next destination getaway if you are in Kolkatta. Exceptional experience in a property that has retained the old world charm of 'Calcutta' and is a hidden gem tucked away in a nondescript building which at first glance might want you to rethink, but as you open the door to the Residency, it takes you to an entirely different world. Tastefully done rooms with high ceilings, antique furniture, a rolling verandah to soak up every bit of this city with great service, we loved our 5 days and will be back for sure! The owner, Mrs. Khullar is extremely accommodating and helpful not to mention their staff who are always smiling and ready to help. Freshly cooked homemade breakfast is served everyday as per your choice which adds to the appeal and the experience. |The property is smack in the middle of almost everything that you need in the city and major restaurants, pubs, sights and sounds are all at a stone throw's distance. |We loved this place so much that 3 whole days we did not venture out at all but stayed back indoors|Highly recommend if you love old world hospitality!

While planning our holiday to Kolkata, we decided to look for accommodation with a bit of historical flavour and character. We decided not to book a hotel room. The Harrington Residency is a large apartment in an old building on Ho Chi Minh Sarani at Kolkata. The premises combine an Art Gallery on one side with 3 guest rooms on the other. The rooms are very tastefully done up, very spacious and give one a very nice feel. There is a long verandah outside with sofa seating. They also have a small cafe / dining room. The only meal served is breakfast , which is quite good. Gopal and Diwakar take good care to give you the kind of food you want. At other meal times, one can order in and use the dining area to eat the meal. All employees are very friendly. A special mention to Surojit, who is on the evening night shift. Cheerful, friendly and always helpful. Definitely recommended and would not hesitate to book again. Location is very close to Park Street and most tourist areas.

A great place well located in the center of Kolkata with access to all the good places within walking distance. The enterance is abit old fashioned & looks like an office area. The only negative for me was the lift. If the doors were not shut properly or gets defective then there is a long walk up two floors. This happened to me once & there is no way to contact any staff upstairs. This should be looked at. The rooms itself are really nice & spacious. The staff are very friendly & the service was good. The breakfast is also really good with a chef present to cook up most breakfast dishes. Overall a good experience

Room awesome. The hotel sits inside a 120-130 year old building, improvement needed on the access approach from the main road to the hotel entry. Breakfast for vegetarians is a challenge, not enough choices.

During month July I have stayed at the Harrington Residency. ||Two days before leaving I have given my clothing for washing.|Filled in the laundry form and bag which was given and instructed by the residency staff. The pile of garments were given back with 4x (new) garments totally ruined.|There was only a apologies note included from the owner.||Since then I have been in contact with the owner several times to ask for a reimbursement. She informed me she would get back to me. It has now been almost 2 weeks later and not heard back from her. ||This is not appropriate and acceptable in how to threat customers.

Great rooms. Super clean with all amenities. Location is unbeatable. Many restaurants in close proximity. The balcony with the chairs is a bonus as is the art gallery. The only negative point could be the lack of a restaurant, but they have a dining area and they do provide an excellent breakfast with limited items but it's tasty and filling and non repetitive. Won't hesitate to book again.
