I booked Hotel Shivay while visiting Kausani last October. Initially, after reading reviews from TripAdvisor, I was a little confused as there were both positive and negative feedbacks; still, as the hotel fit in my budget and the location was good, I wanted to give it a try. The best part of this hotel is its excellent location. The photograph you are seeing is from the lower road and you have ample parking spaces in front of the hotel. This road, towards the right side of the photograph, is going up and taking a bend, and you can access a higher stretch of the same road from the 3rd floor (as common with hill houses). The upper entrance at 3rd floor is located right in the middle of the marketplace, just where buses stop and shared jeeps line up. True, you cannot get a glance of the majestic Himalayan ranges from the hotel itself. Properties located on the higher roads are better to have a view from room, but at the same time they are costlier. What is the point of paying a lot extra, me and my wife thought, when we can stay at a budget accommodation and just walk a few paces to watch the mountains in the dawn and the dusk? And by a few paces, I really mean a few paces: you can just come out of the hotel, walk through the crossroads diagonally, and take the alley left to have a great view of the snow-capped peaks. However, if you want a better view uninterrupted by messy electric poles and wires (and take great photographs) you might need to walk up all the way to the Gandhi Ashram.

This hotel is at the entrance of the city, a huge four story building. To enter the hotel from the first entry point you need to have strong knees as there are about 30 steep steps to climb which is a situation for old peoples.||||To bypass this, take as round and instead of going from the first entrance; proceed further and from the only square of the city, onto the left hand is the reception of the hotel and from here you don't have to climb but to get down. As its well said that "Difficult to climb but simple to get down".||||All the rooms are facing the main road and those on the top floor are better to view the divine nature. From the gallery of the hotel one can view the sunset in clear weather.||||In the vicinity of the hotel is a temple were the tourist worship and expect blessings from lord shiva but from the loudspeaker are mighty :) ||||All the rooms are good for a relaxing stay. The staff is very helping in nature. The food is excellent as there is no artificialness in the test.||||Overall a very relaxing stay.

I have booked 4 delux room, for 31st dec 2016. i reached there around 8:00 pm. I would request goibibo to provide me refund for such a poor services. the following are the problems i found there. 1. Out of our four room they provided me 2 sub standard room and two rooms are just ok type. see pics of room no. 404 2. there are no provision for hot water at wash basin, can you believe delux room where you have to use cold water for face wash, brushing &shaving? 3. Due to very cold i ask them to provide room heater for my room 404 but they said as no power points are available so its not possible at your room. 4. service is also and sometimes rude answers given. for example the tap at bathroom was leak i asked its leaking so creating noise, house boy replied rudely that you have do this way besides repairing the tap. 5. we asked him to arrange music at bone-fire for new year party they simply denied. 6. no value for money, they charged me for 1800 for the sub standard room & service that not even worth of 800. 7. The soap provided(see the pics) is castic soap that is not good enough for hand wash so you never think it to use for bath. 8. The room door is just like janta flats, even its doesn't have handle lock, every time you leave you have to put "kundi" otherwise it will got full open. see pic 9. room carpet is also dirty and looks bad & smelly. overall my experience was very very bad, i never stayed in such a hotel in my whole life. I will not recommend anyone to stay there.

The room was small and the floor was dirty. There was sand all over the carpeted floor. Bed linen was dusty and bathroom was dimly lit with cracked walls.||||Only positive would be the food which took some time to prepare as they cooked to order. It was quite nice. ||Ther was no wifi either. Not recommended unless you have very small budget and don't mind adjusting for a night.

I came along with friends. It was a nice hotel, On walking distance from bus station. we stayed two night and it was a good experience. Staff was friendly room service was good, food was average. You have a limited options for food. Room was clean and big. View outside from room was beautiful.

The hotel is situated in NH, lots of noise coming from passing trucks, won't be able to sleep, rooms are just basic, restaurant service is pathetic, irregular water supply from tap, not recommended for family, not recommended.

I m newly married girl we were planning for honeymoon so we decided to go to Kausani. I went Kausani for honeymoon with my husband through namasteindiatrip and enjoyed a lot there, staying in hotel "Sivay". So when we reached Kausan they picked us from kausani bus stand to the hotel. The staff of the hotel was good.rooms were clean and the service was also good . The best thing I liked about that place was the view in the morning when I got up and saw magnificent view of snow capped Himalayas.
