Vijaigarh Kothi - Heritage

We had a wonderful stay in Febraury at Vijaygarh Kothi. Really professional staff, elegant rooms and a kitchen where things are made to order based on what is in season - so due to this the food prep took time as it is made to order, but the portions are generous and food was very tasty and had a real home made feel. The Kothi is a walking distance to the hisotric Assi ghat and we really appreciated walking to the mighty Ganga river. ||We had travelled in February primary to visit Kumbh Mela. However, having never been to Varanasi and only having three days to spend, I contacted Mr. Shubham, the manager of the hotel. This contact was only based on the reviews here from past guests. And Mr. Shubham did not disappoint. He considered how many days we had, recommended an itinerary and arranged everything. ||On day 1. we toured temples in Varanasi, a boat ride on the Ganga and the Ganga arti. It was a well organized and very enjoyable day. The auto rickshaw that took us around was comfortable and driver was knowledgeable and courteous. The guide Mr Shashi was very knowledgeable of the history and culture. We were also recommended traditional vegetarian restaurants and foods to try. ||On Day 2, a day trip was arranged to Prayagraj to visit Kumbh Mela. Again, as promised the car showed up at 2:30am with Mr. Shashi and we had a long and enjoyable day. Thanks to Mr. Shashi's experience, he was able to negotiate an autoride in Prayagraj that took us to the Sangam area. We probably walked a total of 3 km - much less than other travellers to Kumbh. Our driver, Mr Triloki was driving to Kumbh for the 9th time in the past weeks and he knew the ins and outs of roads and parking. ||On Day 3, we toured the lovely city of Sarnath and took in all the Buddhist monuments and history. Here too the guide was fantastic. ||If ever we return to Varanasi - and we hope to - we will be staying here and asking for Mr. Shubham to make arrangements. Thank you for everything and make our first trip to Varanasi so memorable.

Thanks a lot to Shubham and all staff for making our stay so beautiful! We had our elderly (80 years old) that they went mre than the extra mile to make her comfortable. From helping her up and down the stairs, to serving breakfast in the room to ensuring the kitchen has diabetic friendly options for lunch and dinner.. they made everything happen! ||The hotel itself is beautiful, vintage, clean and super close to Assi ghat.||In all : the perfect choice

Please avoid it. Very very bad property. I've stayed here for work quite often. This time I came back after one year. The rooms are stinky. The bathrooms make you puke. I almost vomitted. Had to get bed sheets and quilts a changed as it had dirty stains on it. Bad odour. And cobwebs behind the bed. I am very disappointed. And there's no owner who takes responsibility. They pass everything on to the staff. That is half trained and villager like. It is only good for photos. Trust me save your money. DO NOT BOOK THIS PROPERTY. Very very overpriced. It is not worth half of what they charge.

Room: Spacious, well decorated and stocked. Staff : very courteous and helpful Price : Very overpriced. Location : This is the biggest red flag. It is located right next to Assi junction with no sound proofing in the rooms. They overlook the main road and it gets extremely noisy through the day and even in the evenings. It was a big bummer! Overall : Would not recommend!

Staying at Vijaigarh Kothi was straight up an excellent experience. It was run by a fantastic and accommodating team. The rooms as well as the breakfast were great and the location is absolutely fantastic, if you want to stay in short walking distance to the ghats and the ceremonies, but rather forgo the narrow and cramped alleys of the old town. Highly recommended!

Everything is wonderful except the noise of traffic from the adjoining road. Shubham ji is an excellent host, the food is very tasty - fresh home made style, basic breakfast, clean washrooms, no smells in the room or bathroom, clean linen, towels. Geyser was working. They served dinner in the room.

We had a wonderful stay at Vaijaigarh kothi in Banaras. The ambiance was charming. The rooms were spacious and clean, ensuring a comfortable stay. The staff was exceptionally supportive and attentive, always ready to assist with any request. Special mention of Shubham Sharma who managed our booking and everything that we needed during our stay at the property. The breakfast spread was limited but delicious and well-curated. Each dish was freshly prepared, and the flavors truly stood out. Although the options were fewer, the quality made up for it. One of the highlights of the property is its location; just a short walk from Assi Ghat. Overall, it was a great experience, offering both relaxation and the perfect base for exploring the spiritual heart of Banaras. Highly recommended!

This place is no boutique or heritage hotel worth the tag ! It's ok and is just a very average hotel dressed up pretending to be one. We had booked two rooms for a ten day work stay but left in one . Manager Shubham is a great guy and tried to make the stay ok . There is nothing that justifies the price and anything . Bathroom just basic . Coffee table dirty marks. Couldn't sleep at all as you can hear every sound and noise from the street. Breakfast was spotty and one had to ask for everything twice . Once we managed to get rooms at The Taj Ganges we were relived !
