Maha Periyava Kuteeram

We had a truly pleasant and memorable stay at **Kuteeram**. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the peaceful and serene ambiance of the place. It's the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city -- surrounded by nature, calm, and tranquility. Even Pets are allowed. The owner was exceptionally courteous and welcoming, making sure we felt comfortable and well taken care of throughout our stay. It's always heartwarming to meet hosts who genuinely care about their guests' experience -- and that warmth was felt in every interaction. The rooms were clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed, blending traditional charm with modern comforts. We especially loved the rustic yet cozy feel of the space, which added a unique charm to our stay. The food was another highlight -- fresh, delicious, and homely. It felt like a lovingly prepared home-cooked meal, which added to the comfort and warmth of the overall experience. Every dish was flavorful and satisfying, with attention to quality and taste. The property itself is beautiful, with plenty of open spaces to relax, walk around, and unwind. Whether you're sitting in the garden sipping a cup of tea or just enjoying the peaceful surroundings, it offers the kind of relaxation that's hard to find elsewhere. We would highly recommend Kuteeram to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway, great hospitality, and authentic, comforting food. Amazing place, exceptional amenities including a nice soft bed, soft comforter perfectly clean room and washroom, kettle, a separate charging port for charging power bank, tissue papers,door mats, spacious wardrobes, an ultimately ethnic ambience, great service..... What more can a guest ask for. Super safe. Felt like a home away from home! I had travelled solo but never felt alone in the company of this lovely family! Wow

Stayed for 3 nights and we really enjoyed the stay. Sri Viswanath and his family were great hosts. The room was spacious and very clean, as was the bathroom. The bed was comfortable. The home cooked food was simple and wholesome and we enjoyed that as well. I would highly recommend this place and would stay here again if an opportunity arises. The only thing that I would ask for my next visit is grab bars in the bathrooms so senior citizens can feel a bit more secure when walking on the wet floor in the bathroom. All-in-all a great place to stay when in the Kumbakonam area.

It was a wonderful stay with Periyava Kuteeram. We were pack of 25 people staying for 10 days. The stay was extremely comfortable. Mr Viswanath owner of the facility stay at the same premise and take care of all your needs. The food is homely and very tasty. Host has gone out of his way many times to make our stay as comfortable as possible.

This is a resort under development ( more rooms are getting added). The owner Vishwanath Iyer is the whole and sole. Rooms are nice.Location is great surrounded by nature. Public transport is not easy. Great if you have your vehicle. Vishwanathan is a self made man retired from the Air Force. He does housekeeping jobs in case staff is not available. His family provides tea/ coffee and breakfast / dinner at guests' requests. The resort is a strict vegetarian place as it carries the pictures of Kanchi Periyava all over.Owner was kind enough to permit our driver to sleep in the kitchen at night instead of sleeping in the car. The tariff was reasonable. So too the food. Overall a nice place.Very convenient to visit the temples in Kumbakonam. The mornings are beautiful as there are several birds chirping in the nearby trees. At a little distance peacocks get busy for their breakfast. We had some fun sitting on the oonjal and doing a mock malaimaathal ( exchanging garlands) typically performed during weddings. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped and one can cook/ heat food or cut fruits, etc

Location is far away from Kumbakonam city , so you have to depend entirely on the in house cooking. They require 2 hours prior notice to prepare food. Rooms aren't quite spacious. The quilt was smelly when we stayed. Unless there is no better choice, this place is best avoided.

We stayed at Maha Periyava Kuteeram for a week on a holiday and it was really a home away from home for me and my family both from elderly parents to 2 year old, we enjoyed our stay visiting around 16 temples that was in our list. So the place is very convenient and connected to major routes to go around Kumbakonam. The rooms, bed, linen, towels and bathroom were clean and tidy. Rooms have both AC and high speed fan and they're also airy. The design of the entire property is well planned, top notch and eco friendly. Good water, spacious kitchen with induction, gas stove, all utensils were available so we could cook home food all 3 times for our 2yr old.. The entrance has a lounge where you can keep gazing at nature all day, the main hall had a TV, cozy furniture esp the oonjal(swing) gives you that authentic traditional vibes well the place itself can be described as a place where "the Modern meets the Tradition". Car parking is available and the property is totally safe has CCTVs around. Birds chirping might wake you up in the morning especially peacocks. I was also working during my stay with a decent wifi connection the speed is v.good also highly recommend for people thinking of workcation/staycation this could be ur goto place if it's gonna be Kumbakonam. The Hosts Mr.Vishwanath and his Wife were courteous, humble& supportive though they had their own family members visiting them, they were warm&kind in looking after us and other guests in the premises. Kuteeram is such an amazing stay & experience where you feel like Retreat and no less to nature. The lush green fields when you come outside is just serene and you can just stay there to experience calmness. Vishwanath Iyer is such an amazing host helps you and guides you with everything. I can say it's my go to place around Kumbakonam. Such a lovely place, can't get out of this.
