It's a wonderful Experience. One of the best places i ever stayed. When i searched for this property some of the reviews about this place were "spooky, Haunted, no perfect painting, floor sounds , Don't Go there" like that. Don't fall for those comments you must see this place by yourself. I stayed there and I didn't see any ghosts or any other paranormal activities. This is a 200 years old mansion, obviously it doesn't have perfect painting and a perfect floor. This is a piece of History. The ambience, food , rooms and everything was excellent. If you are lucky you will see bison. Special mention to the staff and manager. They were friendly and cooperative and made us good food. It's also a shooting location.

"The WelcomHeritage Fernhills Palace in Ooty, a magnificent 150-year-old heritage property once owned by the King of Mysore, offers a truly regal experience set across 50 sprawling acres.||This colonial masterpiece showcases exquisite teakwood craftsmanship and elegant drapery throughout its intimate setting of just 18 rooms. Our check-in was seamless, and we were graciously upgraded to the Regent Suite - a stunning accommodation featuring a spacious living area, grand 10-seater dining table, bedroom, powder room, and luxurious bathroom.||While the property shows some signs of its age, the staff maintains its historic charm admirably. The palace houses a majestic restaurant, a dedicated high tea area, and a bar (temporarily closed but reopening soon). Adding to its natural charm, peaceful Gaurs and wild pigs can often be spotted grazing on the lawns.||The service was exceptional, particularly in the restaurant where Chef Iqbal Hussain went above and beyond, preparing special off-menu dishes at our request. The food quality was consistently outstanding.||Though this grand palace would benefit from some careful renovation, it remains a remarkable destination. To enhance the guest experience, we'd suggest adding activities like barbecues, campfires, and children's programs to complement the property's inherent majesty."

Over rated in means of price and rating. NOT RECOMMENDED that too if you are planning with kids its a big NO !! Gives you a haunted feel once you enter the property and rooms are with no maintenance . All the flooring wood were damaged and couldn't walk inside the room . Lights were not working inside the rooms. No hot water in this weather is pathetic. Dont fall for fake reviews and pictures!!

The hotel is below par as per the minimum standard of any Welcome heritage hotel. There is nothing heritage here, looks like an old , poorly maintained hotel. The food at restaurant is also of below average standard as per the cost of food. The hotel needs serious maintenance and need to improve it's food standard

Booked, and then read some reviews and was a little worried. We shouldn't have been Great rooms (huge suite), excellent service (hot water bottles in the evening and coffee in the morning in the room), great and reasonably priced meals If you're expecting perfect paintwork in all places then it's not the place for you, but it's clean, grounds and views are amazing, staff are lovely, and it's a little piece of history. And the buffalo are friendly!

This review is coming late but I wanted to ensure I share our experience. We had visited this place in May and we booked this for a grand stay based on reviews. Property is a palace converted to a Hotel so the rooms are huge and are fitted with bath tub bathrooms and spacious beds and sitting areas. Gets a lil spooky if you go off season as this is a huge property. Food is OK. Service is also OK as most of the staff are poker faced and hardly smile at you. The Manager is a friendly guy and is very conversant and shares a lot of details around the property. This property is part of a forest crossing and hence you get to see.Bison In the evenings and early mornings. Lots of movies are shot here , Archie's, Raaz , Sadak 2 to name a few movies. 2 things that made our stay worthwhile. First, Property- 60 acres of greenery and it was a beautiful experience to walk through the woods, sit in the gardens , experience the fr3sh air. We stayed for 3 days and we hardly went out of the property as we enjoyed every bit of it. Lots of photos adorn the walls of the palace from the Mysore Maharaja days. Secondly - Williams who is from the restaurant staff. His service was impeccable. He was always attentive and ensured we had good dining and room service experience. On the day of his off, he ensured he updated the other staff to attend properly to us and wnquired about the service when he resumed back on our last day of the stay. I would rate him best on the staff list. Since it's an old property and made up of mud walls, upkeep is difficult but the management is trying it's best to keep it maintained. I would suggest to try this out during peak holiday season so there are guests all around this big property.

So for Dec I booked room for 2 days, as soon as we entered the property it was a beutiful mansion amidst the forest. Once we checked in , we entered our room it was ohk but full of wall seepage. We still ignored that. But things turned bit spooky. First our TV suddenly stopped worked, we tried to call room service but phone was dead. My husband then walked to reception and we got folks for help though the tv never worked again. The washroom is scary like the interior make it look very dull. The next thing was washroom had no warm water and it was freezing Dec, we asked the reception and they said boiler blaster so it will take 2 days to fix. We still ignored that and went out for signt seeing. We came back thinking will see more folks in resort but there is such pin drop silence that will creep you out. Finally our room got changed. But new room again phones were not working and water was ice cold. There was 1 heater for 500sq feet room which will be of no use. In dining area which just had 1 old couple with us at night. Food was below average. But as the night dawned it was just unbearable to sleep. There was no noise or scary experience but you feel deep down scared seeing the ambience. We played hanuman chalisa full night and with the first light of morning packed bags to leave. Though the room charges 10-15k per night but it's not worth at all. And the best part when we said manager we are leaving in 1 day instead of 2, he was fine as if it's a common thing. You will find more staff in day time due to construction work in premises but by 6pm accept 3-4 staff whole mansion is empty. It looks a beautifull hotel but stay is creepiest in my life. And for sure it's with full negative energy. there is a small room opposite to reception where you have all gods and godess picture , I just prayed in morning thanks for making me and my partner survive the night. One more thing if few folks why dint we leave at night only, it's dark outside hotel they have lamps but don't like , though parking is 100m from reception but still in dark as bison keep roaming around you won't take risk.

Gorgeous palace converted to a picture perfect hotel. Huge walking lawns . Restaurant is pretty. Food nice. Service terrible; never smiled and pushed me for a tip.
