Excellent celebration trip for our parents milestone and a birthday. The warmth and personalized service was a standout as was the heritage character of the hotel . A true oasis within Ooty and felt like a home away from home. The housekeeping team and te service team took great care of all the arrangements. Everything was personally attended to by senior staff and all were very pleasant and approachable. The dining room is a very venerable venue with great local food and a competent team. The only feedback will be to introduce tasting and set / course wise menus to suit individual tastes and portions, especially a Thali style dining option.

The room that was allocated to us literally had the smallest window looking out to the common pathway so we had to keep it shut all the time anyways..the room itself felt like it was built as a storage room for the main compound. Really low roof, lack of proper air conditioning/ventilation (I literally had to use the bathroom exhaust so that some air circulation is there). The food in the restaurant is 3/5, just okay. The property itself is beautiful, restaurant/hospitality staff is ok. Reception isn't great - based on my booking experience.

This review is specifically for their in house restaurant: Very slow service, while only 2 tables were occupied for lunch. We ordered ceasar salad and NV kabab platter Ceasar salad- way too much dressing, taste was fine, at least the chicken was fresh. Kabab platter (DISASTER) - 1. Mutton seekh kabab was dry and tasteless, it was more like a lump of something, not mutton. 2. Chicken tikka- it was maybe from the buffet from the night earlier, dry and felt stale. 3. Fish tikka- absolutely tasteless and dry, it's supposed to be boneless but I got a bone. The only good part was the dal makhni, in a Kabab platter! After raising the concern, they did prepare fresh and it was definitely better the next time. Also, one of the innocent staff did nod yes when I asked if there was chicken tikka in their dinner buffet menu the previous night, the young chef tried to deflect it by saying it was other chicken tikka.

Stunning grounds and premises, well taken care of garden, evening bonfire with get together and games for all, fireplace in the room promptly lit on request, nice staff, great spa... However, there were a number of issues that make us unlikely to want to go back. To start with, the under floor heating in our room did not work. We were given a noisy electric heater that mitigated the cold, but only in the main room of our cottage. The front sitting room and bathroom were both freezing all the time (and we were told that even if the heating had worked, the bathroom was not heated!?). The breakfast was nice, but the dinner was a standard buffet with no charm. Alcohol was very expensive (e.g. double the price than in other hotels for the same Sula wine). The barman was lovely, but the furniture was tired and the bright lighting killed the atmosphere. We had read they had a snooker table, and we were really looking forward to a game of snooker in the birthplace of the game, but we were very disappointed because the snooker table was in a very bad condition and installed too close to a wall (so much so that it limited where the position of the cue), only one of the cues had a tip, and there were no rests.

Very comfortable room. Loved the fire been lit and hot water bottle service provided on colder nights. Loved the buildings and the bar. Restaurant was great for evening and buffet breakfast. Scrumptious Dosa's!|What really made it a magical stay was the Staff, they were all fantastic at hosting us.

I have stayed here many times and it only gets better. Personalized treatment and wonderful staff makes the experience special. Love that it is pet friendly too. Definitely my go to place to stay in the area. Thank you for some great memories!
