Lakshmivilas Heritage resort

This is a very well maintained but rustic hotel. Rooms we got were in excellent condition. Service was very courteous and professional. Food was extremely tasty and the staff went out of their way to meet our dietary needs. Since this place is slightly off from the main town, you will need to order your meals in advance.|Great value for money!

As the name mentions, this is a heritage place to stay. My old house was like this with pillars and Centre open space. I felt very nostalgic, as if I time travelled back. For me the ambience was great. The hospitality be welcoming by giving tender coconut water was simply superb. Then followed the traditional cooler drink (koolz) and sumptuous lunch, everything I liked very much. Rooms are very neat and clean with modern facilities. Bullock cart, rope cots below the trees, small pond, walkways, rope walking etc are added attractions. There is also an amphitheater for events. Had a great experience.

Location is 25 km away from Chidambaram. Atmosphere is good. But, location is interior from main road. Food is to be ordered in advance. On demand food not available. But, tiffin was available and was good. Cleanliness apparently less. The fan was not working. Fan regulator not available, making the fan running at a specified speed. Even the socket for mobile charger was not proper. In another road, shown as alternative, AC was not working properly. It was advised to switch off when cooling becomes more and switch on when required. We did not like the same considering the distance from town, room condition and food availability.

I visited Lakshmi Vilas Heritage Resort with my family, including my 2-year-old child. Our stay at this resort was deeply disappointing. While the food was good, it was the only redeeming factor in an otherwise poorly managed property. To start with, despite arriving from a long journey, we were told that lunch would only be prepared if ordered in advance--a policy that was not mentioned anywhere on the booking site. We had to look for another place, quite far away, to have our lunch. This was incredibly inconvenient and frustrating. The property itself is supposed to represent Tamil heritage, but unfortunately, it feels more rundown than historic. Maintenance is severely lacking: almost everything on the premises is dirty, stained and broken, giving an unpleasant impression. The kids' play area is poorly kept and unsafe, which made it unusable for families with children. Cleanliness is another major issue, as the entire place--from common areas to rooms--was unclean. With numerous trees around, mosquitoes became a problem after 5 pm, making it impossible to sit outside the room in the evening. The only option was to stay indoors, but the room had only a small TV, and the DTH connection hadn't been recharged. It took 5 hours for the issue to be resolved after we complained. At dinner, we were directed to sit in an open rooftop area that was swarming with insects. We had to turn off the lights above the table and used only the common area lights to keep insects out of our food. Additionally, the bathroom conditions were terrible. Taps were too tight to operate easily, and the drains were clogged, which made using the facilities uncomfortable. I usually don't leave negative reviews; I prefer to focus on the positives and suggest areas for improvement. However, this stay completely ruined my experience. I had high expectations based on the pictures posted, but the reality was far from what was promised. Overall, this resort has potential but is in desperate need of upkeep and better management.

I just couldn't leave the place. It was nostalgic. Childhood village memories rushed through my mind. scenery was so peaceful. Rooms were tidy and service was so courteous.

The advertised facilities were not available. Over phone call, they confirmed that the facilities and attractions were available, but when we reached the location, the manager gave us various excuses as to why they weren't available. One day (out of our 3 days stay), we were told lunch and dinner were not available since the chef was on leave. We had to go out 30 min each way to get food. The staff, were, however kind and friendly.

The Food was excellent!!! The environment was great! The staff were absolutely gorgeous people!!! The Rooms are vintage, old fashioned... With dust though clean... Bathroom needs to be upgraded with taps which work better!

I loved my stay here. Its away from the busy streets. The environment reminded me of my childhood days in the village. The surroundings bordered by plants, free roaming geese & ducks. The hotel room had such a rustic feels to it. The food is great, totally feels like homecooked meals. The service staffs are helpful & polite. The locals are equally polite,friendly & helpful as well. If you're looking for a quiet, village stay this is the place to go.
