Rooms are good but no maintenance. Walls are broken

Lunglei Tourist Lodge, operated by the Mizoram Tourism Department, is one of the finest lodges in Mizoram. It offers a variety of rooms, from standard to deluxe, catering to different budget levels. Guests can enjoy on-site dining with a selection of local and multi-cuisine options

I stayed here for four nights, and overall it was ok. To break it down, here are the good and not so good. Good: The view is amazing. You see the city below and a great view of the mountains. There is even a multi-story tower you can climb to see even more. The food was good and was always fresh. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful, offering up additional help when the power went out for several hours. Not so good: Even though the building is only 12 years old, it is very dated. The furniture is worn and not very comfortable. The bed has a very hard mattress that is about four inches thick on a wood frame. Typical for an Indian bed, but uncomfortable if you are not used to it. The place needs a remodel badly. Paint, furniture, wall repairs, etc. Taking a shower was not possible. The shower did not work, so I learned how to bath from a bucket in a typical Indian style. The room was not attended to until I asked, but the garbage was not emptied and new towels were not left. Lastly, upon arrival I asked for another pillow and was told there were not any available. Only after another call to another individual was a spare pillow brought. One of the mornings I was woke at 5:50AM to the sounds of loud banging and pounding. Large cooking pots were being dropped on the tiled floors just below me, making it impossible to sleep. Lastly, even though the staff was very helpful when the power went out, having a backup power source is a must. Candlelight is ok, but without power, nothing worked, including the room phone. Lastly, the staff does need training in hospitality if this is meant to be a tourist destination. Even though the staff was helpful at times, they weren't necessarily friendly and hospitable as what would be expected. This place has the potential to be an amazing tourist destination if only someone pays attention to the details and brings the location up to modern standards.

The place is quite good and stay is comfortable. The rooms are neat and clean. The food items served to us was tasty. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian foods are to be served as per order. Dining area is also good. The only drawback is that the place is away from the main city. Might be nowadays it's booking is through Mizoram tourism website.

Beautiful experience staying here for 3 days and 4nights. Buildings are a little old, and their amenities not the finest, but their service and food make up for it. What a spectacular view of the Lunglei landscape it offers! Catch the morning sunrise , and the sun setting, and you'll just be blown away. Make sure you drop in at the Mizo Chief's bungalow,located right next to the eastern building. Stay here for a while and get recharged.

The lodge has a terrific location on top of a hill and has spectacular views of Lunglei city. Great place to catch a sunset. I stayed in a standard double room which was pretty good value for the price. Had a good view even from my balcony. It's a bit rough around the edges and service at the restaurant is a bit indifferent but a great place to hang back for a couple of days otherwise.

This tourist lodge is owned and maintained by Department of Tourism, Government of Mizoram. The staffs are very cordial and friendly. The foods they served are also very good. The room in eastern sides are having better landscape views. There are three main buildings and each can accommodate guests. If you plan to stay here advance booking is better in order to avoid non availability of emty/vacant room. There is watch tower in the Lodge complex, you can see around Lunglei town from that watch tower.

Place very nice and treated good . But now the way of lodge little damaged(August 2017) and interior room building wall conditions are accepted. Don't thing more like luxury. July and august weather conditions are blast experience. I really like lodge maintaining people.
