I stayed at Mai Cottage for 2 days on 26 & 27 Mar, 2025 with my family, and it was a truly delightful experience! The staff offered their services with smile and gratitude. The rooms were exceptionally clean, spacious, and had a premium feel. The toilets and bathrooms were spotless, which speaks volumes about the hotel's hygiene standards. The staff were polite, friendly, and always willing to help, making my stay even more comfortable. If you're looking for a cozy yet luxurious stay with excellent service, Mai Cottage is the perfect choice. Highly recommend it to everyone!

I was very happy to stay at mai cottage as I visit Shillong frequently I had never experienced top notch hospitality, cleanliness and best ambience in Shillong. In my stay with my family i witnessed being in the heart of Shillong me and my family felt we are in some resort away from the town, the beautiful palm trees in the lawn with the statue of Buddha made us really mesmerised. The rooms were so neat and clean with all the modern amenities in it and thanks to chef karan for the delicious food which was served. Suraj sir and his team really made our stay the most memorable stay in Shillong, i highly recommend this property to everyone who wants to experience something different

I am writing this review to highlight how good and decent person is Mr. Sooraj joshi, the owner of Mai cottage. Even though I could not go and stay at Mai cottage, I can feel the positivity and professionalism of Sooraj bro. I booked cottage for 6 days planning a week long Meghalaya trip. From the time of calling him for first time to planning my schedule, arranging cab services, he gave me such a comfort that i was exited to meet him. He called me Brother and he lived Upto this relationship . Unfortunately, a week before the trip schedule, my father got an health issue and admitted to hospital. I have to cancel my trip . my flight and hotel booking also canceled subsequently. After getting the msg.about my father's health issue, Mr.Sooraj promptly returned full booking amount, he genuinely wish for speedy recovery. Thanks Sooraj bhai..Definitely I will come to Shillong once this issue is resolved, I will meet you at Mai cottage and thank you personally. There are significant takeaways from the experiences of Mai Cottage: 1. It's located at the heart of the town. Two wheeler & taxi service is easily available at adjacent Barik traffic point hardly 300-400 metres. 2. Compound is hygienic and well taken care by both the owners who are themselves personally involved and hence provides an aesthetic look and cleanliness at all times. 3. Personally for a pet lover you may find a lab and her cub very adorable, visible in compound. If you are not, not to worry, they wont bother you. 4. Rooms are hygienic as much as compound. Since buildings in Shillong are built by cutting earth for want of space you will occasionally find owners moving on above room (if you are in basement) cleaning the rooms. But it rarely is a thing to bother.

My family and i started for 4 nights at mai cottage, shillong in 2 adjacent rooms. Highly recommend this lovely homestay against all options in chaotic police bazar which is still very easily accessible from this location. Mr. Suraj the proprietor went out of his way to ensure that my elderly parents were comfortable. He recommended a travel agency/driver for the duration of our stay and they were top notch too. Rajesh ji, our friendly driver combined as our tour guide and made sure our dietary needs were addressed en route. Karan and the other staff at the homestay cooked some unforgettable meals for us at breakfast and at dinner - piping hot, flavorful and fresh. Overall, our stay felt safe, comfortable and luxurious.

One of the highlights of our stay was the beautiful outdoor space, where we spent mornings sipping tea, enjoying the cool Shillong breeze, and chatting. If you're looking for a peaceful, scenic, and homely retreat in Shillong with the added bonus of an incredibly lovely host, I highly recommend this place .
