Hotel Lanchenba

I'm from West Bengal and I m staying here for a recruitment exam (of NIT Manipur) at IIIT Manipur (10th & 11th May 2025).

Granted, this hotel is fairly new. I assumed by the time we stayed here some of the issues mentioned in the previous review would have been dealt with. But it was not so. My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights and the following was my experience:||||(Take note: I have stayed in Classic Hotel and Hotel Imphal before, so I am able to compare this hotel to others that are in the city)||||Day one: Checkin. We did not feel welcome upon checking in, and this may have had to do with the fact that I am a foreigner and the hotel is required to fill up a whole bunch of extra forms for foreigners and report their stay to, in the words of the staff, "the central intelligence people". ||||Despite clearly stating that we were a married couple, we found that we were given a room with two single beds. That evening we wanted to shower but their was no hot water so we had to order a bucket of hot water to be delivered to our room. This was the case every night. ||||When we wanted to have dinner, we found out dinner would only be served from 7:30pm to 8:30pm. It took almost an hour to get our food and not everything on the menu was available. ||||Day Two: The morning reception staff were much more friendly and welcoming. After going out for the day when we returned we found our room had not been cleaned except for two glasses that were replaced. That night we were also disturbed by dogs barking in the adjacent building. ||||Day three: room cleaned after request and also every subsequent day. This day there was what seemed to be a wedding in the hotel, with a ruckus late into the night and random people ringing our doorbell and then running off. It also rained this night quite hard and some came through the window. I also happened to notice the kitchen area, which did not look clean.||||There were no more untoward incidences the remaining two nights.||||THE GOOD: The hotel is clean and we enjoyed the food. The price is OK if you are on a budget. Select staff are well trained and friendly. There is also a great grocery store right next door with all kinds of things available to buy (From toothpaste to lays chips and soft drinks). We had a TV which had a good choice of channels. ||||THE BAD: We did not feel very welcome. No hot water in the room. ||||CONCLUSION: I would rather spend some more money and stay elsewhere next time. However, the hotel can improve with some staff training, some extra amenities like hot water, bedside lamp and better generator for when the power cuts in Imphal. I wish the best to the Hotel and Staff, but as it stands right now, I can only give a 2 star rating.

It may be your last resort while looking for a place to crash in Imphal, this hotel is very low in service and standards. The rooms are super tiny, no hot water, TV is not going to work properly. The staff will go to sleep by 9, so if you call them post that you might get a message saying they are off duty now. What a ridiculous place !!

Stayed there for a few days to attend my friend's wedding held in Imphal, in January 2015. My friends (bride and groom) booked a room for me. ||||I was told that the hotel was opened recently. Yes, it is new, clean, and seemed to be maintained well. But certain things (promised) were missing. ||||When my friends booked the room they were told that they provide hot water for bathing.Yes, they do, in a bucket - but we thought the room is equipped with a heater. Thou it takes 15 minutes or so to receive a bucket full of hot water, I still needed to call them every time I want it. My friends' room (suite) did have a heater but it was not working. Hence they had to ask for hot water as well.||||In my room I had a slip with all the facilities available written on it. Wifi was listed. Nope. They said it was not working (I don't know if they meant it was not available YET or they were not going to install it in the future). There is no place to use the Internet near the hotel either. Aghhh||||The other thing listed was credit/debit card facilities - you would assume you could pay by your card, right? Nope. My hosts were planning to pay for my room anyways, but it does not feel right not be able to pay at checkout. ||||It also said they have 24-hour power backup. They did back up, up to certain hours. I guess they figure not many guests are night owls watching films all night. First night electricity went off at midnight, the second night around 11pm...and so on. They started running generators again in the morning.||||I frequently used their room service. The menu is smallish. It said "temporary." I hope they make a permanent one soon! I was hoping to taste some local Manipuri dishes, but most of the items are either continental breakfast or regular North Indian food. Bummer.||||I believe they will improve over time. It is still new but comes with good staffs! Keep up with it guys!

The hostel is good and safe for accommodation. They provide good service and hospitality . Hotel condition is good with proper security and respect others privacy.

Had visited this hotel as i wanted to use washroom very badly. The staff were very kind regarding this. Truly appreciated.

Food quality is below average. I expected more from them, also very costly for the quality of food provided. I say stay here for rooms but food go somewhere else.

Good hospitality, good food, clean, peace and clean room, location also good as we can find everything we need around this hotel.
