A true village-like escape! The mud room was my favorite, and the food was very good. You can plan a stay here at a reasonable cost. However, the route to the resort is difficult to find, and there is nothing around the property.

Well, I am at loss of words to start the review. First of all, Kanha Eco Village Resort owned by Raanvara Resorts is a very old property. We had booked 4 mud cottages for 2 days. Upon our check in, we were shocked to see the cottages (even village huts would be cleaner) which had lizards, ants all over the bed. The wash room area was invaded by insects as if booking was done by them. Freeze was not working and just opening the door caused a lot of smell as if it has been non working since ages. Air conditioners in 3 out of 4 rooms seemed to be of the pre independence era. Upon insistence about all these, manager at the resort told us to wait for few minutes so that he can get the rooms cleaned which he forgot to do before our arrival and he assured us that there wont be any lizards, insects, etc afterwards. How hilarious? They have a splash pool attached to the mud huts which are non working and in absolute shambles, they had told us that splash pools are working just a day before our check in. The water boiler in the huts were so dirty that we didnt even touched it. Their whole booking process is done at Nagpur and resort guys have no authority to take a call. Manager would call their Nagpur Number for all our concerns. We insisted for our cancellation which they agreed without any refund. The nagpur booking office is managed by Ms. Simran (as told to us) who only has power to book the resort and accept money. Other than that, she will say that she does not have any authority and she also refused to give contact numbers of the management/ owners. Also, we had booked the safaris through their resort, which Ms Simran told us that if they cancel the resort booking, she would not allow the safaris; though we had paid Rs 9000 per safari (3 safaris). Manager at the resort was kind enough to accomodate us for the safaris but Ms Simran blatantly refused for it. We were told these are VIP's safaris but just as the resort, the condition of the gypsies was also below average. So, we were left helpless and we had to stay back at the reosrt. Manager changed 3 mud huts to rooms which were just OK.. Manager and staff at the resort agreed to our observations but they were also as helpless as us. Till now, the name of the owner is kept secret to us for reasons best known to these guys.||||Location is poor. Food is average. Swimming pool is average. No amenities. Kids feel all lost at the resort with no play area. Ambience at the resort is very poor. Dishing out anything in name of being close to nature or with nature is just unacceptable. The only saving grace at the reosrt is the staff who were genuine people but as mentioned earlier helpless. Manager at the resort tried to help us through all this but he had limited resources and authority.||||Then we rescheduled our stay from 2 days to 1 day. In fact, our first day was all lost in search of an alternate stay for the 2nd day. We had given cancelled 2 extra beds well in advance before check in but we had paid advance for the same. Upon check out we asked for refund. The manager agreed but said he had no money at his disposal and again called Ms Simran who told us the amount of Rs. 3000 for 2 extra beds was adjusted as cancellation charges for the 2nd day. The manager at the resort tried to convince her that they cannot behave like this with guests where there was no mistake on the part of the guests, but she again refused. She also cut our call mid way. ||||This was the worst ever experience any one of our 4 families had gone through till date. ||||P.S. No tax invoice was given to us at the resort or by the nagpur booking office until now, even after demanding the same. No receipt given for the payments made by us. ||||Laws in Hospitality sector in our country should be stricter. We are contemplating legal action against the resort. If anybody has any idea on this, please let us know.||||For the 2nd day, we moved to Kusum Resort, which was excellent. I will write a review for Kusum resort sooner.
Everything seems perfect here.. absolutely loved their property... the only thing that bothered me was it's a bit expensive deal if you're not thorough with your infos.. remember to ask n clear each n everything before you opt for this.. better you beat a prep n then go than going n get surprised there.. Also, it's a luxury space n if you've got enough grands in hand, go for it.. You'll enjoy every bit of it.. Very nice property. Friendly & polite staff who were flexible enough to accommodate a bit of customisation. Clean & serene place. Loved the tents. Food could have been better in terms of local cuisine availability. It's loaded in favour of North Indian (read Punjabi) flavours. South Indian food is barely passable. Overall, a recommended place to have a good vacation.
We spent four nights here and really appreciated the attention given to us by the owner Navneet and his staff. Navneet is passionate about wildlife and we welcomed this enthusiasm! The food was excellent without exception and the room was spacious and comfortable with a balcony overlooking the grounds. The only reason we haven't given a five star review is that the place does need a bit of 'tidying' - some of the properties needed repairing and the odd lick of paint. Other than that, highly recommended and we would stay again.
I have stayed for two days & the service we received it was amazing. The best part wast the safari driver Digambar Thakur. He was one of the coolest person. Before the safari he promised me for the tiger sighting & he kept his promise in a splendid way. We spotted "Naina" from a very close range for couple of times. Overall experience was good. One the coolest part was the jacuzzi. My kid & family enjoyed a lot. Food was good too.
Stayed here for few days with my son. We were on a safari trip to Kanha and pench. Navneet is very knowledgeable on wildlife and photography and my son took an instant liking to him. The huts/rooms have a rustic charm. Dont go expecting 5 star amenities. There is a good usable pool as well for cooling off. Heaps for the safari were arranged by the hotel. They also give you a nice packed breakfast for your morning safari. Food was nice and staff very courteous always willing to make your stay more pleasant. I would definitely recommend this place and would stay here on our next visit.
Liked the place. Needs a bit of landscaping is what I felt. The staff was very polite and helpful. We loved the mud houses. One caution - if you are on all inclusive plan (stay plus all meals) please be particular about asking the price before ordering anything extra (snacks or side dishes, etc) as that might be bit of a surprise while checkout. They do have a wonderful library + games/tv room with antique collection, don't miss that.
Fantastically rustic yet elegant resort in the heart of Tiger territory...had a very comfortable stay and some of the best food that one could ask for. Lovely experience of having a holiday within the lap of nature ...service too was excellent. Incendently we met the owner ...a very interesting individual that we connected with. Looking forward to visiting again soon.
