Hello people, just want to convey one thing publically to all that the owner Mr.Raghvendra Singh had taken our services of air cooling duct for his personal premise. His behaviour was not amicable and discorteous. He was unable to make payment for our services of just 17k, just imagine what kind of person he is . Holding our money can't take away our fate either can't make u more wealthy. He is willful defaulter and his inadvertent behaviour shows his background and education. Showing only power of Money doesn't helps. Guys be aware before making any deal with him .

We stayed in this hotel in August 2010 (party of 5 including 2 twinagers in 2 rooms). Arrived from Ujjain and on arrival, we were shocked and felt cheated. The rooms were under renovation and there was a lot of work going on. Doors couldn't be locked and there was no AC or other facilities. However, on refelection, I think it was one of our best stays ever - we slept all night soundly with unlocked doors and no AC! The staff didn't speak much English but that wasn't a problem for us. The meals were home-cooked and simple but delicious and best of all was the hospitality. Owner Raghavendra Singh took us on a tour of the facilities and explained future plans. Next day was August 15, India's independence day and we awoke with students singing songs and shouting slogans. Finally, owner came as were leaving and refunded us half of the tariff we had paid which was a great gesture on his part. Compared to our expeience with Ahilya Fort - a highly touted hotel - this was a pleasant surprise. Based on my experience I would strongly recommend this hortel but go with the expectation that there are no facilities but you will be welcomed warmly and treated nicely.

The location is inside the village, the road is well maintained, rooms are very well maintained with a double bed a bath tub and each facility a 3 star hotel has. Service is what a bit average but you tu adjust in a village. Overall experience is good

Private fort under renovation so temporary closed / Manager was courteous to gave us a tour of property but avoid till it gets fully developed. Also, we came from Barnagar road which was very bad with potholes.

We were doing a tour of Madya Pradesh using an Indian tour company and some personal research and were attracted to Fort Alma by the web-site and by the lack of interesting options in Ujjain. We were trying to find heritage hotels or places with character and thus we selected Amla Fort.|It is about 30/35kms from Ujjain - about 1 hr min in the car. It is run down but it is a working Fort and can I say that we loved it. I can see that on arrival the 1st impression is not great - but the room was certainly a good size and clean with a huge bathroom. But most importantly we loved the village, the food, the company of the owner Ragvinder and the sheer genuine friendliness of the people in the village. I would strongly recommend walking around the village to meet the people it was one of the most friendly places we have ever visited. I played cricket with the school team and my wife milked the cows - both on the spur of the moment.|It may not be everyones cup of tea but I strongly recommend you try it partic if you have 2 nights in Ujjain and you are on a tour.It was the highlight of our 3 week trip!

This place is a "work in progress" with lavatories that leak, baths that are not properly fitted and room doors that will not close. However, it has a strange charm of its own and could be stunning if the owners find the money to complete the renovations which is why travellers must continue to go there. If you are prepared for basic accommodation, drinks on the roof and views of the sunset make up for it (take your own drinks).
