Grand Hotel

I'm back to this iconic hotel after a few years.I liked the superior room offered to me, super spacious, and old decor ambience, clean and adequately filled with toiletries wash room etc was quite luxurious. I'm a veteran traveler and could easily pick chaff from the rice. The restaurant was too good,again the decor,food quality made the difference. Their sea food is quite known to many. The staffs are too nice. Adequate parking available. Highly recommended.

My mother and I dined at the restaurant . We dined on the 28th of April . The food was subpar. The two vegetable poriyals were oily , and the fried king fish was stale. We called the waiter to let him know about the fish, and he took the dish and showed it to the head chef who was having lunch a few tables down. The head chef asked the waiter to take it away. The only dish which was tasty was the butter garlic squid. This was mouth watering . The beef steak was chewy even though the preparation was medium well done. We are also dissatisfied with the table clearing etiquette. I have also noticed this at restaurants in other parts of Kerala. Why do the waiters throw the tissue and food particles on the floor after a customer leaves the table? This is both repulsive and unhygienic. Only sweeping is done by the cleaner upon arrival. He doesn't mop the floor so the floor is sticky. The waiters need to use a cloth or kitchen paper to remove food particles and place them on a plate before sanitizing the table. If there are food particles on the floor, then they need to sweep and quickly mop. When we headed for the exit door at the restaurant, all we saw on the way was tissue and food particles on the floor. We won't be returning.

We went to the restaurant Grand Hotel on MG Road, Kochi which was walking distance from our hotel, I wanted our French family couple to enjoy fish dishes. Also the restaurant had a reasonably good selection of drinks (wine, beer, etc). We and our family from abroad enjoyed the fish moilee, meen roast with appam, rice etc. Good experience at a tried and tested place.

The staff are warm and friendly. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The bathe is quite large. The beds and pillows are comfortable enough. ||The breakfast is available at 7:30 and has an adequate variety, though not as expansive as others we have been too. No dosas nor filtered coffee but there is fresh omelettes and appam. ||Location is convenient to metro and 30 minutes to Fort Kochi area.

We dined for lunch on 5th May 2025 at The Grand Hotel, Kochi, and were utterly shocked by the experience. We ordered Karimeen and King Fish, both of which were stale and clearly not fresh. For a hotel of such repute, this level of quality is unacceptable and inexcusable. The dishes were grossly overpriced, making it a complete rip-off. Diners are strongly advised to check the expiry date of frozen fish being used. This was a highly disappointing and unhygienic experience that should not be overlooked.
