It is a fascinating and very comfortable experience to stay at this heritage hotel. ||We were on a fairly long road trip around South India, and wishing to visit Bellary Fort and Hampi, so the Shivavilas seemed to be the natural choice, well positioned within reach of both locations. It's hard to know what to expect when booking a hotel online, photos can be deceptive, but this hotel did not disappoint and we were particularly pleased with our choice.||The building was constructed by the local princely family around 1940, and transformed into a hotel more recently. There is a very charming, historic atmosphere, with many interesting pictures, books and artefacts in the capacious reception rooms. The inner courtyard, where meals can be taken, is cool and extremely attractive. They probably are mosquitoes, but the hotel is very successful at keeping them at bay. ||We had a very large, high ceilinged, well appointed bedroom, with a large terrace. The furnishings in the bedroom were original 1940s, very high-quality, including two beautiful old planter chairs. Don't expect modern fittings - come here if you appreciate good, old furnishings. ||An outstanding aspect of the hotel is the excellent, very thoughtful manager and his lovely staff. Nothing was too much trouble, and they were all really kind.||There is a large swimming pool, with particularly comfortable loungers, and high-quality umbrellas. The pool changing rooms are slightly dated but absolutely fine. ||I have an allergy to dairy, and as I had notified the hotel previously, they kindly purchased in some soya milk. The food was generally good, and there was a large choice.|The kitchen prepared good picnics for us on the days we were going out early to Ballari and Hampi. ||It was slightly disappointing that the spa was not open, but in fact we really enjoyed reading and relaxing on our balcony and by the pool. Also, the manager kindly showed us the collection of immaculate vintage cars, well worth a look.||We would definitely recommend this hotel, there is no other upscale hotel in the Sandur hills at all, and we had a unique, great experience here.

Quiet, beautiful, serene, historic, lovely. We stayed here for three nights and enjoyed the entire experience. Rooms are spacious, service was fantastic, food was great. It felt like stepping back in time. Really enjoyed our time here. ||The only thing to note is this is a solid hour away from Hampi and the historic sites. We didn't mind and there was plenty of time in the day to enjoy.
Our family had an unforgettable stay at WelcomHeritage Shivavilas Palace from 29th Dec 2024 to 2nd Jan 2025. The experience was nothing short of amazing, thanks to the outstanding hospitality provided by Mr. Sameer and the General Manager, Ms. Abha Gupta. Their warmth and attention to detail made us feel truly at home. The entire staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay, always serving us with a smile. The food was exceptionally tasty and customized to our preferences, which made every meal a delightful experience. The property itself is beautifully maintained, and the grandeur of the palace reflects the rich heritage and culture of the royal family. Every corner of the palace, down to the intricate details in each pillar, exudes charm and history. Although it's a 45-minute to 1-hour drive from Hampi, staying at this palace is absolutely worth it. The impeccable service and serene ambiance more than make up for the travel time. A big thank you to the entire team of Shivavilas Palace for making our stay so memorable. We highly recommend this place to anyone planning a trip to Hampi. All the best, Team Shivavilas!
Absolutely nothing was pleasant about my stay, dirty bathtubs and mismanaged heritage where I was awakened at 5:30 AM by an intimidating ceremony. It was scary, I do not recommend it. This property has nothing to do with Welcomheritage or ITC standards. A cheap motel would give you better sleep. They are so inconsiderate that there was a wedding like procession happening outside my room at 5:30 AM. The front office staff Sameer had told me that a priest would be doing some chanting outside my parents room to which I told him that we don't want him to wake us up as we have a long day of Hampi exploration the next day. He was extremely assertive and was simply informing us instead of seeking permission. I was not comfortable with that and told him that the priest can whisper but the priest at 4 AM was ringing bells and reading mantras outside my senior citizen parents' room. He never told us about the 5:30 AM wedding like procession which woke us up with a shock. There were loud trumpets and drum rolls and there was smoke flowing into my room. I thought that it was a bad dream. If I would not have made the pre payment, I would have called the police and not paid the tariff because technically I could not use the room for that night for sleeping, forget about the seemingly luxurious property that it is projected as. I was groggy in the morning, ate medicines for headache and this stress will remain with the memories of Hampi. We had made the prepayment for 2 nights and managed to get the money back for one night after repeatedly following up with the management. Do not make pre payment here. The bath tub in the room was unusable and after telling them they showed us another room which had pigeon poop all over the balcony. These people know absolutely nothing about hospitality, I don't think they can even run a motel well if a guest's sleep is not their priority. I strongly recommend to not stay here. Moreover, the road leading to the hotel is a nuisance with a row of trucks where you could get stuck. Because of this ordeal, I don't recommend this property as a good stay option for exploring Hampi. I thought only the people eating lunch here were made to feel terrible as is mentioned in the reviews but apparently even after paying so much for the stay, you are made to feel like they are doing a favour by letting you use their so called palace. Do not stay here. I strongly recommend any other highway motel instead of this property.
Great place to feel like a Maharaja, great food and service. The grounds around the hotel are very beautiful. Nice place.
We as a family decided to be at Hampi for an impromptu visit to Hanuman ji temple and we couldnt find any decent property in Hampi and thats when we found this property via Google.Sameer was prompt in reverting all the queries, gave us decent discount and also made sure that the service stays impeccable while we were there at the resort.|Food was decent, the resort is neat and clean, we stayed in Maharja suite, there were some logistics concern on spa and in room phone, but we were pretty content with our stay.|We have to travel for an hour to be at Hampi but we were ok with that. The staff was courteous and prompt.Anyone visiting Hampi will be mostly out exploring the rich culture hence this property doesnt disappoint you at all.
We all had a great time here . The rooms were very clean , the services were quick , food was good and all the staffs were very polite, patient as well as helpful . Worth staying here
