Jewel Grande Montego Bay Resort & Spa - All-Inclusive Resort

When we arrived at the resort, the Check-in Staff was very unwelcoming, there was also no one offering/serving a "welcoming drink". We had 2 rooms & when the vacation was booked, we stated that we were travelling with a 'special needs child', requesting adjoining rooms or rooms close by. It seems as though the Resort totally overlooked that fact & proceeded to tell us we would not be getting our rooms until 4PM, the standard check-in time. We explained the urgency for at least 1 room to facilitate our Family's needs. It took a little calmness to absorb the sulking Front Desk Staff as we didn't want to sour the start of our vacation. To add to that, we had to put a USD $200 deposit for each room. At no time, were we ever informed by Air Canada Vacations, that a further deposit was required at the resort. An hour later, we were given access to 1 room. The restaurant staff- some staff were great, some require customer & compassion training. Thanks to Tatiana (Buffet) John Noe (Steak House) Myisha (Asian), Chantel (Italian), just to name a few, but a 'Real Big Up' to Tyrone for having accommodated us with our 'Special Needs' grandchild for the last 3 nights of our vacation, making sure meals were prepared in a timely manner & showing human compassion towards us. The pompous service we received from Judine, at the Steak House MUST BE Mentioned. We had been to the Steak House 3 times before & on our final night, Judine who had seen us 3 times already, proceeded to tell us we cannot sit at a table until the rest of our party was there. We almost lost it & told her we wanted to order food before our 'Special Needs' Grandson got there & you can keep your table until we tell the rest of our party to bring the child down to the restaurant. Somehow between Judine & Tia, they decided to let us sit when we asked to be in John Noe's section. Our recommendation is that if staff like Judine cannot show human compassion outside of their canned training, then people with her personality should not be allowed as a "Host/Hostess". As very experienced travellers, we certainly hope that the resort takes this complaint very seriously & place the appropriate staff in suitable positions. We did not use the Kids Splash Pad as it was in the middle of the sun & creates a perception that the kids would be easily sunburned. The Kids Zone was enjoyable to my grandson. We did not use any of the 3 pools. The beach was great as it was shallow & clean with minimal seaweeds during our stay. We received great service from the Beach Servers Alex & Daniel (girl). It was a pleasure to have toy buckets etc on the beach, for the kids to play with the sand. We felt like we were being harassed by constant phone calls early am to pay US $80 per person for a Mother's Day Special, cooked by a Chef, so we were at a loss as to who was cooking the our meals during our stay. The entertainment: The "Michael Jackson" show was poor. The speaker box was on the side so when the performers were miming the songs, it was portraying the music from the side instead of towards the crowd. The dancers are not close to giving a true representation of Michael Jackson's moves. The other entertainment acts were basic. We are not sure whether we would return here any time soon, based on the unwelcoming feeling of the resort's front desk, our experience with Judine on our needs & the limited food choices which should have been published to the Tour Operators. Had Tyrone not "saved the day", this would have been a nightmare vacation & we would have rated the service as a 2-star.

The staff are wonderful everyone was friendly and kind. The property is beautiful and the food was pretty good! We really enjoyed the Jamaican food and definitely felt like the staff was worth the cost. The beach is great as well and sunset is absolutely beautiful. All of the staff were great but I especially remember Vernon and Sharnelle, thank you for a wonderful and enjoyable stay!

Best vacation ever. All the food was fantastic with lots of options. Pools were a great option on rest days. Beach area was beautiful and kept very clean. All the staff were so kind and helpful. Very kid-friendly, my 9 yo loved it. Room was large with a breathtaking view of the ocean. Would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a smooth, relaxing, memorable trip in paradise.

We had a fantastic family trip to Jamaica! Stayed in an ocean villa with stunning views. The resort is a bit dated, but the amazing service made up for it. The restaurants were excellent--great quality food. Special thanks to Addannis for keeping our villa spotless. Most of all, our butlers, Toby and Lennox, were the highlight of our stay. They constantly checked in, anticipated our needs, and made everything effortless. Their attention to detail and warm hospitality truly made our trip unforgettable.

My overall experience was good! when I initially got my room I did not have any hot water so I had to call the front desk to get a maintenance request in. I'm assuming they fixed it in a control room because I had hot water within 30 minutes, but I was just not giving confirmation that it was fixed/resolved. I even sent a text message to my "personal concierge" for my "stay" a didn't get a reply. Overall, for the amount I paid I enjoyed everything. The food was great, the staff was very nice and there was an event almost every night. The bed was too firm for me & it took me a while to figure out the controls for the light / fan (fan light didn't work though)..Even though I went solo I did not feel alone. This resort would be a good place to book if you're on a budget and don't wanna worry about paying for food as the food and drinks are included/unlimited. I would visit this resort again. FYI Have some single bills available if you wanna tip.

The resort is beautiful. The management is ruining this resort. No hot water for showers in the afternoons/evenings. Not enough bath towels for the resort. Finding a beach seat in the shade is like the hunger games. They sell day passes to the resort even when it's a full occupancy which just made the already overloaded situation worse. We had a 2 bedroom 3 bathroom suite with butler service. The butlers have zero pull to help you. No towels, they can't get you beach seats, they can only make you reservations for dinner. The best part of this resort is the food. It's not like typical all inclusive resort food. It is actually not bad at all. We won't go back, but it's a shame because if it was managed properly this could be a great vacation spot.

We had a great stay at the Jewel. The hospitality of every employee was beyond exceptional. They truly make you feel more than important. Beautiful views. The complex itself feels a little dated but still a great place to stay by the water. The beds are hard. Everyone has their own preferences and mine is a softer bed, to each their own. Overall, it was nice.

Breathtaking. Dinner was a whole experience--I even got to stir-fry my own veggies and felt like a real chef!||What I loved most was how peaceful it was--not overcrowded at all--and the service?
