Shimla British Resort

The resort is situated at such a quiet and serene location still well connected to nearby places. The best was the hospitality here, the staff was so helpful and welcoming. They'll go out of their way to make you feel home!! Some improvements required though as the property is really old, it needs some renovation since the beds or furniture were a little wobbly, also privacy should be improved for cottages. Otherwise everything is great... The view, the location, the helpful staff, the food, everything works together to give you a wholesome experience!!

So be warned - the photos shown on their webpage are not the average room! For what we paid for our room it should have been cheaper as it was basic - however, we were our and about most of the time so it did what it needed to do for us. But you need to know the photos are out of date!||The restaurant was nice, breakfast was super. The chap who helped us was lovely - the two members of staff we met were friendly and helpful.||The location is picturesque and quiet - but be warned however that the slope to/from the hotel from the road is VERY steep. Not for the unfit! Not good for disabled/hard of walking. ||Location due to its quiet nature is a little out from the centre if Shimla but it's a pleasant walk and safe at night. We were worried about dogs at night but no need to be concerned. The owner (we assume) who lives at the lodge before you arrive at the main rooms has a large St Barnard who was barky but no concern. ||They're building a massive hotel behind the main rooms, so your view from one perspective is beautiful, and the other a large construction site!!!||Overall, good for location and peace, overpriced really for the room we had.

Don't rely on pictures posted on hotel website, travel website and on social media. Pictures are misleading. Room are average but full with mosquitos, insects and bed bugs. Non working TV is installed as a show piece. Big gaps in Room doors. Big insects and reptiled crawled inside the room, very scary. Room furniture claimed to be antique but not maintained. Chair seat is covered with good looking fabric but it is hollow from inside. If someone tries to sit on it, will sink and can't get up without the help of others. Washrooms are with broken seats. Sit on toilet seats at your own risk. Resort is around 600/700 meters steep downhill with broken road and sharp curves. It is very tiring if you travel on foot. Due to parking issues in Shimla, own cars can't be used frequently for travelling from this hotel even to mall road and ridge. Either you have to travel on foot or depend taxis which do not come to this hotel easily or if comes charges are very expensive. We booked for 3 nights but due to these issues we changed this hotel in one night.

The British Resort is a quiet stylish retreat in the woods yet close to Shimla town. Period architecture, excellent food, friendly staff. Ideal also as a base for exploring the hills and sights in the area. Not for wifi adepts. Warmly recommended!

A perfect blend of heritage and comfort! The antique furnishings, cozy rooms, and warm hospitality made our stay unforgettable. The rooftop restaurant with stunning views was the cherry on top! Veer from the staff made our stay very very comfy! Will definitely visit again!

I loved everything about Shimla British Resort--from the Danish Imperial Room with a balcony to the friendly service by Mohan and Teena. Forest views, good food, and total relaxation. Highly recommended! The Nearby Nature walk was amazing

Awesome hotel rooms. Booked for me and my family. I liked it a lot. I wonder why this place is so underrated till now. Ac available, fully furnished, bed is cozy. Specially the view..... omg ong the sunset looks mesmerising and the experience is so good

Shimla British Resort is a hidden gem! The staff was incredibly friendly, the food was delicious, and the bonfire nights were magical. Can't wait to visit again! We stayed at the Scottish Villa and the rooms were spacious with a nice open lawn area covered with white gravel. Very close to the Mall
